Running

So a little back story,  about a month or two before I had Emily I decided that I needed to commit to something to do that would force me to work out after I had Emily.  So I decided that I would train for a 5K.  Now I have never ever been a runner in fact before this summer the last time that I ran any amount of time at all was for PE in middle school.  So I proceeded to tell many people that I was going to run a 5K in the fall, I figured the more people I told about this the less likely I would be to flake out of it!  So for my birthday/anniversary present I went to Teton Running, a shoe store in town,  and had them film the way I ran  and got some good shoes so that I wouldn't have the excuse of injury not to run.   I picked a 5K, it was the Wish, Walk, Run benefiting  the Make a Wish Foundation.  It was on Oct. 15th so I figured I would have enough time from when the baby was born to get ready for it.  I found some podcasts for the couch to 5K program and just started.  Honestly I signed up for the run I did because you could walk or run and I was not so sure that I would be able to run the whole thing, but by the week of my race I had gone through the whole couch to 5K program and a few days before the race ran 3.1 miles and ran the whole way.  So knowing that I could do it I made a goal of running the whole thing and doing it in less than 45 min (I know not stellar time but I am okay with that).  So I went I ran and I did it!!!  I ran the whole thing and finished in 41min and 56 sec  Here are some pics of that day.
Before the race figuring out where the course goes.

Getting ready to go!

Ryan and Olivia's "Go  Mommy" posters!

Right after I finished, Ryan is making sure that I know what his poster said!
So after I did this race I kind of started to slack off it was getting really cold in the mornings and it was just really hard to find time to run especially with Chris's weird work schedule.  So I was running about once a week and decided I needed to get on it so I signed up for another 5K.  This one was just yesterday.  And when I woke up to drive to the race it was snowing I got down to the park and it was only raining there but it was cold and by the time the race started it was sleeting and windy.  Needless to say it was a little cold!  So my goal this time was again to run the whole thing which I was a little concerned about since I hadn't been running as much and I wanted to beat my last time.   Well luckily there was a cute little boy ahead of me with about 1/2 a mile to go and I thought, "no way am I coming in after a little boy"  so I kicked it up and  finished in 39min 50 sec!   It was a lot of fun.  It was called the "Tater Trot"  so after the race there was a baked potato meal waiting which was the perfect thing to warm me up!  My mom came up to see me run so we got a few better pics this time!  So here they are!
Waiting for the start!
Off we go!

returning triumphant!

can't have my mom taking pictures and not have one of me with my tongue out!

eating the potato and drinking hot chocolate!

Anyways so that is my fun running experience I don't know that I can say that I have enjoyed the running but I have enjoyed setting and accomplishing these goals.  I registered for a 10K at the end of May and now that I am registered and I have told all of my faithful readers there is no going back right?

Emily updates

Emily so getting so big so fast!  She is rolling over, eatting "solids", laughing, scooting (way to close to crawling)  and is just so cute!  She had her 4 month check up on Sept. 20 and was 16lbs 15oz and is 25 inches long! I just can't believe how fast they grow she is wearing 6-9 month and 12 month clothes!  Here are just a few pics of her from the last few months!

Emily just chilling and watching some tv

love this smile!

First Days of School

So we had a few different first days of school this year.  Christopher started first as he is teaching 1 class and 2 labs at the University this semester, then a week later Ryan started first grade, then a week after that Olivia started preschool as she missed the deadline for Kindergarten by 10 days, and then after some care finagling I was able to get Olivia into K12 which is a home school public school so she started Kindergarten, but is also doing preschool for the social aspect!

10 Year High School Reunion

Christopher and I had our 10 year high school reunion in August.  Unfortunately it was Christopher's weekend to be in Texas for his masters program so he didn't come with me,  but I had fun without him!  We had an adult dinner and then the next day we had a family day at Bear Lake.   It was so much fun and I loved catching up with "old" friends whenever we get together it is just like old times!  And my mother-in-law was awesome enough to watch my kiddos so I didn't have to worry about them.  Again I suck at getting pictures so I am sniping some from friends!  Also just want to give a thanks to those who made it possible I am sure it was so much work and I am grateful that you were willing to do it!

Almost everyone that came it looks like some left before the picture was taken.

My girls can't even tell you how much I love these people!  We missed you Kaiann!

This group of people is why I miss High School,  people often give me a weird look when I say that I loved High School but it is because of these people that I did.  (and my cute husband who would have been in this picture if he were there)

 Keeping it real!

After the dinner was over a bunch of us went out to the deck and just talked and laughed forever.  Love these guys!

At the Bear Lake!  Look at all of us brave girls with little ones and not afraid to wear swim suits!

Emily's Blessing

Emily was blessed on July 3, 2011.  Christopher gave  her a beautiful blessing.  He blessed her with a love for learning and for music.  We had so much family there to support us and it was wonderful.  I didn't get a lot of pictures but my mom and mother-in-law did I just didn't get any from them yet so I will snipe some from their blogs and facebook but might post more eventually!

This is a picture of all of our family who came to the blessing.  We used a camera timer and we all squished in!!  Camille and the babies were MIA but we will forgive them since they were a little bit young to be hauled all over the place!

This is the only picture I got of Emily in her whole blessing outfit.  I was planning on putting her in it another day and talking pictures but she has grown and probably doesn't fit into it now!
One more pic of her she fell asleep right after we got home and then we changed her before any other pictures got taken so this is it!

Imported Blog

So I just integrated the baby blog that I had set up for Emily into this blog,  I originally had made that blog just so that I could "tell"  about the baby before we were really telling anyone.  So lovely thing that blogger is it let me import all of the posts from that blog into my regular family blog and I will now be deleting the old one.  So if you missed out on that one you can go to September thru May on this blog and find the additional posts that are now part of this blog.  If that made sense to anyone I am impressed but hopefully you get the basic gist of it!

Emily Christine Wertz May 25, 2011

So obviously I suck at blogging still maybe someday I will be good at it but for now I will just try and be better! This is a fairly long wordy post (but I did leave out the gory details) mostly for my own journaling purposes so if you want to you can skip to the pictures at the bottom!
So as the title makes obvious our baby girl was born just over 2 months ago.   Long story kind of short.  I was induced on Wednesday May 25 at 5am (ya nuts)  they had me all checked in and hooked up by 6 and then it was just time to wait!  At 8am my Dr came in to check me and I was at the exact same as I had been on Monday (actually it seemed less effaced than I had been on Monday).  So at 8 the Dr broke my water and the fun started.  By about 10 I was thinking holy cow this hurts more than I remember and I asked the nurse if I could have some drugs just to take the edge of because I didn't want an epidural yet as I knew it was still going to be a long time before the baby got there.  Also I was in contact with my mom but she was teaching that day so she was planning on leaving Bear Lake at about 12 figuring she would be there in plenty of time for the arrival.   So back to getting some drugs the nurse told me that the epidural guy was actually on his way up so if I could just wait a little bit that they would just do that.  I figured okay I can handle it I mean I figure I was at maybe a 4 at this point and I could handle it.  So the epidural guy came in and got me all hooked up (in 1 try mind you which is difficult for a person with a back as screwed up as mine.)  So now that I am feeling all happy and mostly numbed the nurse checks me and is very surprised to find out that I am at an 8. (no wonder it was hurting so bad)  So she calls the dr to let him know and low and behold my mom walks in.  Thankfully the woman that was subbing for her was already at the school and told her to just go so she wouldn't be so antsy and thankfully my mom listened otherwise she would have missed it. (I love people that listen to that still small voice)  So my Dr didn't answer so they left a message and he called back 20 min later so my nurse checks me again so she can give the Dr up to date #s and I am at a 10,  so the nurse turns the Pitiocin off and the Dr hurries to the hospital.  It is about 11:10ish when he gets there and in the most calm delivery I have ever had our little girl comes into the world.  Our Dr was great and so calming we were having conversations in between contractions and pushing,  it was awesome.  Anyways so she came and was perfect cried for just long enough for us not to worry about her and then was completely calm.  After a little bit of looking at her and being out numbered on the name thing we decided to name her Emily Christine (that happened to be the only name we even came close to agreeing on)  She was born at 11:21am and was 8lbs 8oz and 21 inches long.  She is such a good baby and super cute she has dark brown hair, what we think will be brown eyes (although they are still deciding)  and a beautiful olive skin.  She looks a lot like her big sister.  Anyway so that is the not so short story and here are some pictures.

Baby needs a name has a scheduled birthday!

So I went to the Dr. today I am 38 weeks and measuring at 39.  The Dr checked me and I am at a 1.  I was hoping to schedule my induction for Friday the 27th but they only schedule inductions for Wednesdays and Mondays so it looks like unless she decides to come sooner I will be induced one week from today!  That is a little scary and not perfect timing but it will do!  I am excited and nervous all at once I am definitely ready to not be pregnant any more but not really so sure if I am ready to have a baby!

37 Weeks Officially Full Term!

So I had a Doctor's appt today and all looks good.  I am actually measuring at 37 weeks this week which is odd because last week I was measuring at 38,  but this is the first time he has me measuring at on time.  He also checked me and I am still pretty much closed,  which is good considering Sara's wedding is in 2 days!   So it looks like it will still be a while until we meet this little girl and hopefully figure out a name for her!   I did jump on the trampoline with the kids today we will see if that will encourage her at all.   She also seems to know that I am talking about her because she is more active right now that she has been all day!  Maybe she can just hear the typing and it is driving her nuts!!!

Lost tooth!

Ryan lost his first tooth on Monday, May 9th.  It was really loose the night before but he wanted his daddy to pull it and Chris was still on his way home from school in Texas.  So Monday night right before Chris went to work Ryan decided that he was ready to have daddy pull his tooth.  Well Chris had a little trouble getting a grip on it and could only get it half way out,  so mom and her fingernails to the rescue and I got it the rest of the way out.   He didn't cry at all and was such a trooper!

He was so excited to put his tooth under his pillow and even more excited to find that the tooth fairy left him a quarter.  She also kissed him on the cheek.  Here he is trying to show you his missing tooth, his quarter and his lipstick stain all at the same time!!!

Belly Shot

So this is the only real belly shot we have taken this pregnancy Chris was making a presentation for school and he wanted to put in some pics of his family so this was how he chose to show our little girl!  Anyways this is me 35 weeks and 6 days pregnant!
She actually has already dropped a little bit which is nice because I can breathe a little better now but the downside is that she is resting more now on my already super sore hips!  I have a Dr appt tomorrow so he will probably check my progress then last week I was about as close to a nothing as you can be without actually being at a nothing!  Hopefully there isn't too much progress this week since Chris will be in Texas all weekend for school and next week is Sara's wedding.  After that she is good to come!

Cousin Sleepover!

So out of the blue a few weeks ago Chris said that we should have Jason and Camille's girls over for a sleep over.  He thought our kids would love it and that Jason and Camille would enjoy a night off. I thinking he would get over his momentary craziness didn't mention it to anyone but when he brought it up again I gave Camille a call and she jumped at the offer of a night off!  So these are the pics from the kids first sleep over!
Eating yummy elf cookies while watching Despicable Me!
Jamming out to the music at the end of the movie!
Getting ready to go to bed.  (Mckenzie didn't actually sleep there she slept in the other room she was just added in for the pic.
I guess these girls are more loved because they got the beds!
All the kids they actually went to sleep really well.  We had so much fun and it was quite the successful adventure!

back to posting

Okay I am going to try and be better at posting!  I might do a few back tracked posts in no particular order but I will try to get more into this again if for no other reason I like to have an extra place where my pictures are stored.  I will start with Easter pictures since those are the last ones that I downloaded on my computer.  We stayed at home for Easter this year because Chris and I both have callings at church that we needed to be there for we did a few community egg hunts but I have no pics of those so these are just pics from our own small hunt on Easter morning before church.
The kids checking out their Easter baskets (we don't do toys and presents and stuff just candy)
 on the hunt
 Olivia found one
 showing off their haul
 showing off their sparkling personalities
Right after church I couldn't get a good pic of them both smiling in their Sunday best so this is what we ended up with.  Sara's wedding colors are purple and yellow so I though that I would get 1 dress for both Easter and the wedding thus Livvy's awesome purple dress!
